  1. I think there is something to the “anti-book culture among many fathers” bit, though the rest is sheer garbage.

    • Oh yes, I think anti-reading and anti-intellectualism generally go hand in hand with memes of what’s “masculine” and appropriate for men/boys to do, but it also seems that the people who propagate that sort of attitude also enjoy blaming everything but the source. A horrible cycle of suck and functional illiteracy.
